Poker players push Obama for change
Poker players around America are using the inauguration of a new president to push for changes to existing draconian anti-online poker legislation.
President elect Barack Obama has already given Americans the go ahead to suggest policy changes, and poker players and their representatives are not going to give up the opportunity to raise the issue of poker.
"Together, we can all let Obama know that we demand our rights!" the Poker Players Alliance said on its website. The group has pushed for its members to comment on the issue of poker on Barack Obama's online portal Change.Gov.
One of the ways that poker enthusiasts are looking to create pressure to change the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act is to bring to administrators attention the fact that the game could help boost a flagging American economy.
One topic on the Change.Gov site reads "Boost America's Economy with Legal Online Poker," has attracted over 1,000 coments and is one of the most popular threads on the site.
