Binger wins WSOPC Lake Tahoe

Michael Binger emerged as the winner of the Lake Tahoe World Series of Poker Circuit event this week, defeating a handful of top professionals in the process.

Amongst these was last year's champion, Chris 'Jesus' Ferguson, who was eliminated in 11th place. The final table featured three pros, including Binger, Scott Clements and Alan Kessler.

Binger took a substantial chip lead into the final table, and was always the favourite to win. However, Ty Stewart did his best to upset the apple cart, eliminating a series of players to take control of the table.

To his credit, Binger managed to hang on as Stewart enjoyed an excellent run of cards, and eventually found himself up against Stewart in the heads-up battle.

Stewart used his chip lead to push Binger around, and at one stage had his opponent 8:1 down.

However, careless play cost Stewart as Binger clawed his way back into the match, eventually taking the tournament from his opponent when Stewart made a reckless call with middle pair and an ace kicker, losing to Binger's top pair.

The win earned Binger a $181,379 payout, while Stewart had to settle for a cheque for $112,675.
